Industrial Advisory Committee

About the IAC

The purpose of the Industrial Advisory Committee is to help the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) Department stay abreast of developments in industry and to provide an independent outside review of the curricula, facilities, and equipment of the Department, thus ensuring that the Department is meeting the needs of employers of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers.

This will be accomplished by an annual review of the MAE Department scheduled at the mutual agreement of the Committee Chair and the Department Head. It normally will be held in conjunction with the General Meeting of the Academy.

These reviews will include, but need not be limited to, the following

                (1)Undergraduate curriculum;

                (2)Graduate curriculum;

                (3)Department long range plan;

                (4)Staff activities;

                (5)Facilities and equipment;

                (6)Accreditation compliance (ABET);

                (7)MAE Department budget and financial support; and

                (8)Review of the concerns of the previous year;

At the conclusion of the review, exit interviews will be held with the Head of the MAE Department, the Dean of the College of Engineering and, if necessary, with the President of the University.

A written summary of findings to include advice and recommendations will be forwarded to the Department head within 30 days of the conclusion of the IAC review and exit interviews.
